Better Packages was the innovator of gummed tape dispensers used for carton sealing in 1917. Before then companies used twine, glue, or staples to close boxes.  BPI started manufacturing gummed tape dispensers in 1921 at their present location in Shelton, Connecticut.

Over the years many different models have been introduced.  For almost 40 years the current models BP555S and BP333 have served businesses well.  The advantages of gummed tape are found on our web page “Advantages of Gummed Tape”.  Click on the hot link to check it out.

The following models are listed below with a brief description:

BP333 now TS333 - Manual gummed tape dispenser for 1-3" wide paper or gummed reinforced tapes.  The best manual Better Packages offers for the money.  Optional top heater available.

BP555eS - New electronic dispenser for multiple lengths of 6" to 45" with a double key, + - 1/2" key, random key up to 120".  Combines all five models in one.  Find your best value in the automatic model BP555eSA.

BP555eSA and BP555eLA - New electronic model for automatic dispensing gummed tapes.  All the features of the BP555eS with future expansion capabilities.

BP754 - Electronic model dispensing 1-4” wide gummed paper or reinforced tape in three different modes with time delay.  Choose from a 1-2-2 pattern, manual, or automatic single length modes.  The BP754 has two variable length buttons from 6”-100” and an overriding random length button.

BP755 - Electronic model dispensing 1-4” wide gummed paper or reinforced tape in predetermined lengths of 6”-75”.

CB33A now TS150 - Heavy duty manual gummed tape dispenser for 1-4" wide gummed tapes.  Optional top heater available.

KL-6 - now called the BP-6 - Label moistener for up to 6" wide gummed labels. 

Packer 3S - Pull & Tear dispenser for 1-3" paper gummed tape incorporating a unique subway feed.

Penetron Liquid- Concentrated water conditioner for all types of gummed material.  Makes tapes stick faster.  One 8oz. bottle treats up to 50 gallons of water!  Best value

TS150 - Heavy duty manual gummed tape dispenser for 1-4" wide gummed tapes.  Optional top heater available.

TS333 - Manual gummed tape dispenser for 1-3" wide paper or gummed reinforced tapes.  The best manual Better Packages offers for the money.  Optional top heater available.

TS404 - Lever operated manual paper tape dispenser for 1 1/2" gummed side out tape. 

Optional Equipment: 

CodeTaper - Tape printer attachment to print on tape as it is dispensed.  Very useful for logo, dating, or noting shift or product information.  Used on BP333, BP554, BP555, BP556, BP754, BP755, CB33A.  See the CT2000 for the BP555e models.

CT2003 - Tape printer attachment to print on tape as it is dispensed.  Very useful for logo, dating, or noting shift or product information.  Used on the BP555e models.  Call for details.  Available September 2003.

Foot Treadle - Hands free operation with the BP554 Duet, or BP556 Robot.  Similar model available for the BP555e series models.

SpaSaver Stand - For placing the tape dispenser over conveyor lines, above counter top.  Makes machine easier to use.  Used on BP554, BP555, and BP556 models.  Not available for the BP555e models.

TA2000 - New designed Tape Aerial for creasing tape and shooting over the carton to be sealed.  Improves operator efficiency.  Available for the BP555e models.  Call for details.

Tape Aerial - Used for creasing tape and shooting over the carton to be sealed.  Improves operator efficiency.  Available for the BP554, BP555, BP556 models.  See the TA2000 for the BP555e models.  We have four left in stock.  Discontinued 2003.

Discontinued models:

BI-4 - Discontinued 2003 - Lever operated pressure sensitive 1" wide tape dispenser with set feed lengths.  Standard model, 3 strip slitter or 4 strip slitter models available. 

BP400 - Discontinued model in 1996.  Random length.

BP554 - Discontinued 1999.  Call for replacements.

BP555 - Discontinued 1999.  Call for replacements.  We offer rebuilds when available.  Call for details.

BP556 - Discontinued 1999.  Call for replacements.  We offer rebuilds when available.  Call for details.

DL-9 - Discontinued 2001 - Label moistener for up to 9" wide gummed labels.  Call for details on an alternative moistener.

Express 1 1/2 - Discontinued 2001 - Pull and Tear dispenser for 1 1/2" 35# gummed side out paper tape.  Call for details on an dispenser.

Penetron 24 and Penetron 100 - Discontinued 2001 - Water conditioner for all types of gummed material.  Makes tapes stick faster.  Penetron Liquid replaces the powder form.

PS3et - Now offered by Cyklop as the Baby Umet 75 - 3" Pressure Sensitive tape dispenser.

Simplex 3 - Basic Pull & Tear dispenser for 1-3" paper gummed tape.

Tape Squirt - Discontinued, replaced by Penetron Liquid - Fast acting water agent.  8 ounces treats 40 gallons of water.

TS100 - Old red reliable.  Discontinued.  Cast iron manual gummed tape dispenser for 1-3" wide gummed tapes.  See TS333.
